What Happened in Pahalgam?
Around noon, when tourists were enjoying pony rides and the breathtaking vistas of Baisaran, four militants stormed the area, firing indiscriminately.
Eyewitnesses describe a scene of chaos, screams, and heartbreak as visitors desperately tried to flee.
Among the victims was Vinay Narwal, a 26-year-old Indian Navy officer from Haryana, celebrating his honeymoon with his wife.
His sacrifice — even as a civilian — is a reminder that our soldiers are India’s pride both in and out of uniform.
Over 17 people were injured, some critically, including citizens from neighboring Nepal.
This was the deadliest attack on civilians in India since the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
Who Claimed Responsibility of Pahalgam Terror Attack 2025?
A group calling itself “Kashmir Resistance” took credit for the bloodshed, alleging the tourists were “undercover Indian agents” — a baseless and monstrous justification for mass murder.
Indian intelligence agencies, however, have pointed fingers towards Pakistan-backed groups, notably Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen, for orchestrating this cowardly act.
The Immediate Response
Prime Minister Narendra Modi immediately cut short his diplomatic visit to Saudi Arabia and returned home to oversee the situation.
Condemnations poured in globally:
U.S. President Donald Trump and UK PM Keir Starmer condemned the attack.
Nations across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East offered condolences and support.
